Looking back at 2009

Wow, what a year. When I stop to think about it, I still can't believe how great a year this was.
Having my little Ohh has to be the single greatest thing that has happened in my life. (Sorry hubby, you are a very very close second!)

The year has been full of lots of laughs, tears, exhaustion, fears, worries, happiness, and every emotion in between.

But above everything else it really has been the most eventful, life changing year of my life.

I really can't believe that Ohh is 6 months old already. Everyone has said that time will go by quickly, and they sure are right. I know lots of people are sad as their babies get older. I admit I am a bit sad, but overall I really am excited. I feel like such a proud momma as she continues to grow and reach new milestones. While I am sure to miss the little baby stages, I can't wait to see what kind of little girl she is turning into. When looking at these pictures from her first few days, to over Christmas I can only imagine what changes will happen this upcoming year.

Merry Christmas!

I know..a little late.

It was a bit hectic right before Christmas while we packed up and did last minute things before traveling to my families town. But it was all worth it once we got there.

We had a great time! And little Ohh was so spoiled. She loved it there too. Getting so much attention...she was loving it. She just seems to love looking around, and being very aware and curious of things around her. I'll blog a bit later about our holidays, but I'm tired as we just got home, and I need to get ready to go to my husbands family tomorrow.
One thing I am looking forward too though is getting back into a routine with her. It can be tough on little ones when things change so much from what they are used to!

But I did just want to update on Ohh's progress!! Over the holidays she has officially become a crawler! Not just a couple little movements, but full out crawling! And boy can she move fast if she wants too. She is already beginning to hear the word "no" as she is always going straight for things on the tv stand, or other things that we haven't baby proofed yet. Oh boy...lots of work ahead of me in the next bit I can see! :)

I really think she is going to be walking pretty early too. She is already trying to pull herself up from a sitting position. Whether its up onto my legs, or on a new toy she got. My prediction, is by around 9 months she'll be walking. That seems so early too me, but I guess lots of babies do. Only time will tell. It doesn't matter to me, just whenever she is ready.

Can anyone tell me how the heck to make the picture that is posted when I am "following" someone to have an actual picture. I have a thumbnail picture on my profile page, one never shows up when I'm following.

Sitting up for the first time

Time for momma to brag! Yesterday, she sat up all by herself. :)
She's been doing it for tiny bits off and on for a while, but yesterday was the first time she did it for more then 10 seconds. It was a good 2 minute stretch each time before she would topple backwards!

Here is my little babe at her first sitting up attempt. Don't mind the messy hair, and outfit. We weren't thinking it was going to be a photo op at that moment :)

I got carried away taking pictures of OHH on the couch today.
Momma is so proud! As you can see from the first picture, she is getting closer and closer everyday to being a crawler!

It was the funniest thing. She would see the little light, right before the flash would go off, and she'd give me a big smile! She's my little model! haha

Yummy food!

Feeding solids is going pretty good now. She is really a good eater I think, compared to some stories I have heard from other moms. It really is quite funny sometimes. All she wants to do is feed herself by grabbing the spoon, but I know if I let her, she will either shove the spoon down her throat or all the food will be in in her hair or mine! :)

I think I still need to tweak the scheduling as we've had a slight change in her eating habits while she was sick with a cold. It seems she was wanting to eat less then, but now I think she's back up to her old ways since she's protesting if I don't put enough in the bottle. And she has also been waking up once during the night wanting too eat. It's kind rough doing that again when we've been spoiled for a little while now. But I am telling myself it is short lived...she must be off because she was sick.
She also seems to have pushed back her sleep time. We were able to get her to bed around 7, no later then 8. But now it seems to be happening around 9 or 10. Earlier works better for Dada and I, so we're hoping to get it earlier again soon!

So... The foods we've tried so far:

• Rice cereal - she gets this every afternoon. She's been up and down on how much she eats, but I think that has partly to do with her being sick, and also because I'm not quite sure the best time to feed it yet. Before a bottle? after a bottle? between bottles?
• Veggies...all homemade...and she eats them just fine! (Sweet potato, peas, beans, carrots)

This is her current feeding schedule (on a good day!)
7:30 - veggies and bottle
10:00 bottle
12:30 bottle
3:30 bottle
5:00 cereal
6:30 bottle

So we'll see what the next few weeks bring, especially with going away for the holidays. It should be interesting!

Snuggly weekend mornings

Weekend mornings are now my favourite time of the week. Not because I get to sleep in to an insane time, cause I don't - those days are long gone. But because of the snuggles I get, and the sounds I get to listen too.

We bring our little Ohh into our bed when she wakes up (sometimes 5 or 6, but today was not until 7:30!). We put her inbetween us, laying in her boppy pillow. You'd think after going almost 13 hours with no food, and a having pretty wet diaper she'd be screaming in protest, but no, this seems to be her happiest time of day.

She looks back and forth between the 2 of us, smiling away, making her cooing noises. She particularly likes to grab Dada's hair while he tries to get a few more minutes of sleep. At this time of the morning, we aren't likely to go back to sleep, but it sure is nice to be able to give ourselves a bit more time to wake up, and just enjoy the 3 of us laying in bed. These really are the best moments!
We know she's ready to for us to get up when she rolls over, and is up on her knees an grabbing at our faces...still smiling away! I wonder if these moments will change once she gets crawling around....I hope not.


Ahhh, I wish everyday could be like this!

Vitamin D

Just a reminder to myself to keep taking Vitamin D! I try to take 2 of these a day, but I have been forgetting lately.
I have a history of SAD (seasonal affective disorder), which usually shows up in January/February. Since vitamin D is supposed to help, I really should get on taking them to see if it helps this year.
Does anyone suffer from this? Do you have any tips on prevention?

Letter to Santa

Ohh wrote a letter to Santa, and got an e-mail (yes an e-mail) back from Santa. Who knew he had the technology? ;)
The actual letters has some cute Christmas pictures on them. I plan on printing them off and having them laminated.


Dear Santa;
My mommy is writing this for me because I am just a baby. I will be 6 months old on Christmas eve. I haven’t met you yet, but Mommy and Daddy say they are going to take me to the mall sometime soon to have a picture taken. I really don’t like to be held by anyone else except Mommy and Daddy, so I am sure I will cry!

I really don’t need anything for Christmas but I think I would like to rip up some paper. Mommy says I will get one present from you this year. I like toys that make noise!

We will be at Nanny Neil’s in Kingston this year so I hope you will find me there. I will be wearing my new Christmas Pyjamas that night just like my mommy did when she was a little girl.

My, what a pleasure it was to read your email! When I receive messages from children like you, it brings a big, big smile to my face. It may be very cold at the North Pole, but your note makes me feel warm inside.

What's new at the North Pole? Well, everyone's scurrying about preparing for Christmas. We've all got our special jobs to do, but it doesn't seem like work because we have so much fun.

The other day, some of the younger elves came to the house with a big surprise for Mrs. Claus and me. They wrote a special Christmas poem and it's absolutely wonderful! Are you ready to hear it? It's called Christmas is Almost Here.

Christmas is almost here
A day we hold so dear
The toys are being crafted
Santa's letters are being drafted
And we couldn't be more excited
Because children every where will be so delighted
